How many lives can one telemetry collar save?

\u00a0It all started with information on Messenger, sent by a local nature observer. It concerned the disturbing behavior of a lynx. Thanks to the signals from the telemetry collar, it was possible to find Kiana and transport her to the Lynx Rehabilitation Center, run by the West Pomeranian Nature Society.

The diagnosis was dramatic. The pregnant lynx suffered from mange \u2013 a disease that leads to death without treatment. A fight began not only for her life, but also for the lives of her unborn cubs.

\u00a0It quickly turned out that her last year’s children \u2013 Gaja and Bazyli, who had just been separated from their mother, could also be at risk. An intensive search began, during which we had to make extremely difficult decisions.

\u00a0It is a story about responsibility, veterinary medicine, nature conservation and how important telemetry collars are. Without them, it would probably not be possible to find sick lynxes. It also shows what dilemmas the team rescuing wild animals faces \u2013 where there are no ready-made scenarios, and every decision can decide someone’s life.

In this episode, you will see the backstage of these events and find out what the fight for Kiana and Gaia’s lives looked like.

\u00a0Every lynx saved has its own story. Most of them never end up in front of a camera or camera. This time we decided to describe one of them to you. Not to look for sensations, but to show what saving an endangered species really looks like. We want to show you the work of people, which is, in a way, their mission. It is a huge sacrifice that has no time limits or schedule.
