The Biedronka network has initiated active support for the protection of Polish nature. In October 2021, the Polish Society for Nature Conservation „Salamandra” signed an agreement with Biedronka to support the protection programs for seven animal species: the european bison, lynx, wolf, porpoise, pigmy owl, and hedgehogs (eastern and western).
The Western Pomeranian Nature Society is one of the first organizations to receive financial assistance for the protection of the european bison and lynx in northwestern Poland. Thanks to the grant, we can actively support the operations of the Bison and Lynx Emergency Service, which will receive a new off-road vehicle. The Isuzu pick-up, which was purchased in 2017 as part of the project POIS.02.04.00-0143/16 “Return of the european bison to northwestern Poland,” has been doing a tremendous job with the lynxes but is nearing the end of its capabilities. The new vehicle will allow us to continue operating efficiently in the lynx sphere, and perhaps more importantly, it will greatly facilitate field activities with the bison. We will be able to better organize animal monitoring and undertake a greater number of interventions.
