Opening Conference of the LIFE22-NAT-PL-LIFE LYNX PL LT DE Project “Expanding the range of the lynx population in northern Poland” (Rozszerzenie zasięgu populacji rysia w północnej Polsce)

On December 3-4 2024, a conference was held at Dzika Zagroda in Jabłonowo, opening the LIFE22-NAT-PL-LIFE LYNX PL LT DE project „Expanding the range of the lynx population in northern Poland”.

The event was organized by the West Pomeranian Nature Society. The event was also supported by Project Partners: Rewilding Oder Delta, Spychowo Forest District, and Asociacija Ekosistemu Apsaugos Centras by presenting ongoing activities in a poster session.

These days were fruitful with interesting lectures delivered by, among others, Prof. Mirosław Ratkiewicz from the University of Białystok, Prof. Rafał Kowalczyk, Dr. Tomasz Borowik, Dr. Jakub Skorupski, and the project team from ZTP. The topics presented were very interesting, as evidenced by the full room of participants who took part in this event.

During the conference, we were able to exchange experiences with colleagues who had carried out projects related to the reintroduction of lynxes (including WWF and IBS PAN in Białowieża) and those who are currently undertaking this challenge in Germany (RElynx Sanchen).

We sincerely thank all the participants of the conference. We hope that during the next international conference organized at the end of the Project’s implementation, interest in this event will be equally high.
