As part of the implementation of the LIFE LYNX PL LT DE project „Expanding the range of the lynx population in northern Poland,” we have expanded the complex of enclosures at the Dzika Zagroda this year with additional runs that will serve for breeding lynxes and their release as part of the mentioned project. Additionally, the enclosures will also be used for treating sick individuals, which, thanks to our help, will be able to return to the wild.
At this stage of the reintroduction program for this species, it is extremely important to treat sick individuals, as each lynx in the wild significantly impact on the real chances of population growth. The Emergency Response Team reacts to every report of a lynx appearing near humans and thoroughly examines each case to be able to help such an individual in a timely manner.
The new enclosures will also be used for the acclimatization of lynxes brought from foreign breeding centers.
The enclosures were built by the Project staff, who have extensive experience working with these predators.
