This year on Lynx Day, we have wonderful news for you!
This year, little lynxes were born at the Dzika Zagroda! We have been waiting for this special moment for many years. This year, it finally happened. The lynx mothers this year are Paula and Dora. Both lynxes are caring for their offspring, occasionally appearing in the enclosure. Observing the kittens will only be possible in a few weeks when they start leaving the dens.

Paula is a female who has lived at the Dzika Zagroda for 7 years. She currently occupies the enclosure near the bridge and the observation tower. She has hidden her offspring from us in one of the shelters in the enclosure, and the only way to see them was through a thermal camera. To this day, now entering the third week, we have not had the opportunity to see her kittens. Paula herself, who has been very sociable and willing to pose for visitors, only appears in the enclosure in the evening to eat.
The situation is different with Dora. This female has been with us for a year. She currently occupies the oldest enclosure in the Dzika Zagroda, the one by the bridge. She also gave birth in one of the shelters, but after less than two weeks, she moved the young to a place where we could observe them from the bridge. We managed to count them, and it turned out that there are 3 kittens. Unfortunately, Dora has once again hidden the kittens from our curious eyes. We are eagerly watching for them in the enclosure.
Equally joyful news is coming to us from the field. We have already confirmed births in 5 females, and we hope that these are not the last litters. So far, we do not yet know the number of born kittens, as the mothers are very protective of their offspring, and we do not want to disturb their peace. When the kittens start following their mother, it will be possible to count this year’s offspring.
Last season, at least 25 kittens were born in the wild; we hope that this year’s result will be similar 😊
