Conference launching the LIFE22-NAT-PL-LIFE LYNX PL LT DE project ‘Expanding the range of the lynx population in northern Poland’

On 3-4 December 2024, the opening conference of the LIFE22-NAT-PL-LIFE LYNX PL LT DE project ‘Expanding the range of the lynx population in northern Poland’ was held at Dzika Zagroda in Jabłonowo.

The event was organised by the West Pomeranian Nature Society. It was also supported by the project partners: Rewilding Oder Delta, Spychowo Forest District and Asociacija Ekosistemu Apsaugos Centras, who presented their activities in a poster session.

These days were fruitful in interesting lectures given by, among others, Prof. Mirosław Ratkiewicz from the University of Białystok, Prof. Rafał Kowalczyk, Dr Tomasz Borowik, Dr Jakub Skorupski and the project team from the West Pomeranian Nature Society. The topics presented were very interesting, as evidenced by the full hall of people who took part in the event.

During the conference, we were able to exchange experiences with colleagues who have implemented projects related to the reintroduction of lynx (including WWF and IBS PAN in Białowieża) and those who are currently undertaking this challenge in Germany (RElynx Sanchen).

We would like to thank all conference participants. We hope that the next international conference organised at the end of the project will attract equally high interest.
